LEADING ONESELF

FOCUS:  Emerging School Leaders / School Leaders

SERVICE DESCRIPTION:

An opportunity to reflect on the inner life and identity of the person of the leader.  The quality of leadership one can provide is dependent on our ability to form inspiring relationships with others.  This ultimately comes from the type of person we are and not from the power / authority derived from our role or position.  This means that personal capabilities such as:

  • self reflection
  • moral courage
  • cultural sensitivity
  • honesty and integrity

and relational capabilities such as:

  • authentic presence
  • trusting disposition
  • other oriented
  • empathic

are critical capabilities in a leader.

Self awareness and a commitment to the journey of self transformation and liberation is integral to Christian leadership.

"The first and paramount responsibility of anyone who purports to manage is to manage self, one's own integrity, character, ethics, knowledge, wisdom, temperament, words and acts.  .... when we do that, the ethical, moral and spiritual elements of management are inescapable".

Dee Hock, founder and C.E.O of VISA, USA
